Home Start Lambeth is looking for Family Volunteers
Home-Start Lambeth volunteers provide support, friendship & practical help to families in Lambeth with at least one child under five, so that no child's future is limited. Volunteers typically support families who are going through post-natal depression, a bereavement, financial difficulties, etc or who feel isolated & struggle to implement routines.
Home-Start Lambeth is looking for volunteers who can support families in the following ways:
-
Through home visits: Home-Visiting volunteers are matched with a local family, who they visit in their home or at cafes/parks, etc once a week during working hours to offer tailored support & befriending. Volunteers build a supportive relationship with the family in which the challenges of family life can be discussed & positive strategies encouraged.
-
Through sing-and-play groups: Group volunteers help plan and deliver weekly groups for families/carers with babies or children under 5. Groups promote learning through play and community integration and run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.30am-11.30am.
Volunteers must have parenting or childcare experience and be able to commit to approximately two hours of volunteering a week for at least six months.
Volunteers receive in-depth training before supporting families and attend supervisions and meeting throughout their volunteering journey.
Your own experiences & skills could help another family more than you could imagine. Home-Start Lambeth would love to hear from you.

Read Easy Lambeth provides free, confidential, one-to-one coaching for adults who struggle to read. They are looking for reading coaches to meet twice a week for 30 minutes with a new reader at a mutually convenient location. All training is provided and we use the Shannon Trust Turning Pages phonics-based reading scheme which has been specially written for adults.

King's Award for Voluntary Service
Celebrating the outstanding work of local volunteer groups across the UK, the King’s Award for Voluntary Service is looking for: • Groups that are truly outstanding and making a big difference to their local community. • Groups where volunteers, rather than paid staff, are in the driving seat. • Groups that have highest standards in everything they do.
Along with being a huge honour and recognition of the work of Lambeth’s volunteer organisation, winning the King's Award is a quality mark for the organisation. This could help charity organisations in their applications for funding, giving funding bodies the assurance that they are supporting initiatives run by a well-run charity. Nominations open on 1 April. Help elevate and give voluntary organisations in Lambeth the recognition they deserve.
