New support for residents announced

Claire

Hello,

This week, Lambeth Council has approved the budget for 2023/2024. With rising energy costs and inflation pushing residents into financial hardship, this cost of living budget will direct an extra £7 million to provide vital support for those suffering most.

This includes a £2.8 million cost of living support package to help struggling families pay their bills, an expansion of Free School Meals provision, extra funding to expand the emergency support scheme for those in crisis, and increasing take-home pay for Lambeth’s hardworking carers. It is about putting more money back in people’s pockets.

As well as this targeted cost of living support, we will continue to invest in our communities, providing essential services, and delivering on the priorities of residents. We’re building affordable homes, standing up for private renters, making record investments in our award-winning parks, and creating opportunity for Lambeth’s next generation through thousands of apprenticeships. And we’re leading the way on reducing air pollution and reshaping our neighbourhoods into fairer, safer, and healthier places.

Lambeth stands in solidarity with Ukraine

Last Friday, we marked the one-year anniversary since the war in Ukraine began by remembering those who lost their lives in the conflict. To show our support, we flew the Ukrainian flag at Lambeth Town Hall and highlighted some of the ways we are supporting Ukrainian guests living in Lambeth.

Cllrs and residents on estate

Lambeth launches consultation on new ways to work with residents on estate renewal schemes

To help us improve the way we communicate and involve housing estate residents in decision making, we launched our draft Estate Renewal Resident Engagement Framework consultation. People living on Cressingham Gardens, Central Hill, South Lambeth, Knights Walk, Westbury or Fenwick are invited to share their views on the draft document by taking our survey.

Following the Kerslake review last year, we know bold and decisive action is needed to tackle the housing crisis in the borough. Watch our video by Danny Adilypour, Deputy Leader & Cabinet Member for Sustainable Growth and New Homes.
