Parking colleague wins national award
Congratulations to Tom Gallagher, Parking Investigations and Highway Enforcement Manager who won the Colleague Award at the British Parking Association’s People in Parking Awards held virtually last week. The award goes to an individual who has gone over and above their job role for their colleagues or employer.
Time to Talk Day – Thursday
Time to Talk Day on Thursday aims to encourage people to have an open conversation about mental health. We will be marking the day at Lambeth with a corporate Time to Talk Team Meeting at 3pm on the day as well as lots of other activities like a special stretch & flex session, coffee connect, games room, speedy chats and lots more. Vales and behaviours setting workshops
Everyone who works for Lambeth is invited to join a short workshop to help us develop and evolve the values and behaviours of the Council. Explore the importance of values and behaviours, what these mean for us working with our residents and each other. Workshops will be taking place across the borough over the next few weeks. The HR DIY system is still temporarily paused to allow the team to work through the backlog of enquiries, which is happening at pace. LGBTQ+ History Month 2023 – throughout February
Lambeth Council’s annual February-long programme of LGBTQ+ History Month events curated and hosted by Lambeth Libraries includes author’s talks, new books, book clubs, a craft fair and Drag King story times for kids, poetry, a film screening and a virtual reality experience.
Race Equality Week 6-12 February
Lambeth will be marking Race Equality Week (6 to 12 February) an annual UK-wide movement to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace. Join the lunchtime event for all staff featuring speakers including Bayo Dosunmu, Chief Executive and Juliet Amoa, Associate Director of Community Health and others talking about the London Local Government plans on tackling racial inequality and the implications for Lambeth. Annual leave must be taken by 31 March
Staff are reminded that annual leave entitlement should be used by 31 March 2023. Any untaken annual leave will unfortunately be lost and will not be carried forward into the next leave year unless there are exceptional circumstances (up to 5 days can be carried over by agreement of the relevant Strategic Director and must be taken by 1 June). Lambeth proposes new emissions based parking charges
Lambeth Council is considering a new emissions-based charging structure for parking permits in the latest move to improve air quality and create a fairer, more equal borough. The new pricing structure could see drivers of vehicles that produce the highest emission levels pay more to park across Lambeth.
Strike update
The following strike action is planned, please check before travelling and speak to your line manager if you think you might be affected.
Travel: National rail - Wednesday 1 and Friday 3 February. Bus (Abellio) - Wednesday 1 to Friday 3 February. TfL services will run as usual during these strikes, however there is strike on the Bakerloo line on 4 and 1 February. Please check TFL website for up to date information before you travel. Others: Teachers -1 February and 1 March. Members of the Royal College of Nursing - Monday 6 and 7 February. Ambulance drivers - 6 and 20 February, and 6 and 20 March. Civil servants - Wednesday 1 February.
Chief executive in person Q&A

Lambeth Council invites public to help shape new Brixton scheme
Lambeth Council and its development partner London Square have invited local residents to get involved in the council’s plans to bring new homes, job opportunities and environmental improvements to Brixton town centre.
Lambeth customer centre doors
A reminder that the Lambeth Customer Centre Doors on Brixton Hill are closed between 12.30pm and 1.30pm, Monday to Friday. If staff have guests, clients or visitors presenting between these times to please let them know to use the Buckner Road entrance.

Health Determinants Research Collaboration are recruiting
Health Determinants Research Collaboration are recruiting for two roles HDRC Research Director and Head of Service. The post holders will work closely with our partners at Black Thrive and King's College London, collaborating with colleagues to develop research and research infrastructure that embeds race equity and advances data linkage infrastructure.
