Hello,
I am delighted that Lambeth has been awarded official Borough of Sanctuary status, as part of our ongoing to commitment to being a borough which welcomes and values refugees, migrants and all those seeking sanctuary.
Our borough has a proud history of welcoming refugees from all parts of the world and of being a place of sanctuary, hope and opportunity. In recent years, we have continued in the spirit of that shared history by welcoming people seeking sanctuary from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, and other countries.
Refugees, migrants, and those seeking sanctuary have often gone through incredible loss and trauma. With the news that Lambeth has become a Borough of Sanctuary, we renew our commitment to never turn our back on people who have lost everything and who need our help. We stand ready to support them and help them to rebuild their lives and find a home.

Lambeth leaders visit Brixton North Ward
As part of their tour of Lambeth’s wards, Council Leader, Cllr Claire Holland and Chief Executive, Bayo Dosunmu visited the Brixton North Ward. They made a stop at the Stockwell Park Community centre and met staff there, who work hard to tackle issues such as homelessness, addiction, and gang association.
They're currently working with over 160 gang members to get on the right track with advice and evening support sessions. They were joined by ward Cllr’s Manley-Browne and Ennis, and other vital local organisations such as SW9 Community Housing, Angell Town Community Centre, and Marcus Lipton Community Centre to find out more about the life-changing work they do daily.
