Climate Change Workshop Facilitator
Climate Ed teaches children about climate change and empowers them to take action.
They are a charity offering free education to children about climate change and carbon literacy
This volunteering opportunity will be a chance for you to inspire children and their families to take action on climate change by reducing their carbon footprints and leading a more climate-friendly lifestyle. All resources and training provided.
You will go to a primary school in Lambeth to deliver a workshop programme about climate change/carbon footprints and inspire the children to start taking action on climate change! More specifically, this involves:
- Undertaking a short training to gain familiarity with the workshop materials (this can be done remotely).
- Delivery of a programme of workshops (five in total, each lasting one hour) during school hours. (You won't manage the students alone - the teacher remains with you the whole time).
What Climate Ed are looking for:
- People who have previous experience either as teachers or workshop facilitators, ideally but not essentially with young people.
- People who are knowledgeable about climate change (and related environmental/sustainability issues), keen to share their knowledge with others, and are able to inspire children to inspire their families to reduce their carbon footprints.
What difference will you make?
You will be playing a major part in inspiring and supporting the next generation to take action on climate change.
Children in schools desperately want to know more about climate change and be given the chance to engage with it, but they need enthusiastic, positive, knowledgeable people to guide them. You will be helping children learn about climate science and the impacts of a warming planet, and also how they and their family can take practical action towards living a more sustainable lifestyle.

The Welcome Project: Supporting asylum seekers with children under five
The Welcome Project is working with recently arrived migrant families living in hotel accommodation in Clapham and Streatham. Children benefit from intergenerational arts, crafts and play activities with their parent and trained members of staff in a secure play environment; and from story and rhyme time sessions to help them prepare for nursery and develop some key communication and language skills.
Parents attend the same sessions, they will have the opportunity to mix with other parents outside of the hotel setting, while developing their own skills.
Would you like to help support asylum seeking families? Are you free during term-time on Wednesdays or Thursdays 10.30am-2.30pm?
Sessions will take place in Streatham & Norwood and Clapham & Brixton Hill Children’s Centres. FREE DBS checks will be provided.
To find out more, contact The Welcome Project on 07949 603968 or email Foufou Savitzky.
