Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of action to tackle climate change and protect nature, taking place in communities nationwide from 24 September to 2 October.

In the UK, we throw away 6.6m tonnes of household food waste. Three quarters of this could have been eaten, whilst people are going hungry.

SE24 Sustainable Energy are a local organisation developing community energy projects. They have helped schools install measures such as solar panels and LED lighting, reducing energy usage and costs.
They are looking for volunteers to conduct lighting surveys to assess energy savings, helping them secure funding to go further.

Retrofitting is the addition of new technology or features to older buildings. By adding new technologies such as door seals, double glazing, loft insulation and solar panels we can reduce our energy consumption and be warmer.

Owner-occupiers and people living in private rental properties with low EPC ratings can apply for the Mayor of London's Warmer Homes scheme. The grant provides up to £25,000 for home energy efficiency improvements to reduce energy bills.*

Hiring bikes is a great way to see London, commute to work without having to find parking and avoid waiting in traffic.
The Santander Cycle Scheme has expanded, offering e-bikes to try and a 50% discount for NHS employees from 12 September.

Dr Bike sessions offer a chance to get your bike checked for free by experienced mechanics. They will check everything from your bike wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals or saddles. Any minor adjustments that can be made will be done there and then free of change.
