YPN Presents: 30 Minutes with Bayo Dosunmu and social

The Young Professionals Network (YPN) host an in-person event with Chief Executive, Bayo Dosunmu talking about his plans for the council and young professionals, as well as taking questions. This will be followed by an introduction to the YPN, and their plans for this year. The group will then head to Brockwell Park for some fun and games. If you have any questions for Bayo, or ideas for the YPN this year, please send via email YPN@lambeth.gov.uk. When: Wednesday 7 July, 3pm in Town Hall Mayor’s Heritage Suite.

New access cards for all staff

A new access control system is being installed across our buildings and all staff will need to be issued with new access cards. Each staff member will be contacted by mid-July so that they can collect their new access card ahead of the change. During the installation phase you may see engineers on site installing new door hardware/card readers. FM will display signage within the buildings to make staff aware of planned works taking place. View dates and details on Lamnet.

Lambeth Country Show 2022

The Lambeth Country show, one of the UK’s biggest and free family shows returns on the 16 & 17 July to Brockwell Park. The country show is one of Lambeth’s calendar highlights with something for everyone across two days. Returning this year are the sheep and owl displays, home grown vegetable and flower competitions, an abundance of craft and dance and an onsite farm. Plus there’s lots of food and drink from local providers as well as music, poetry and lots more.

Getting the language right

The Tackling Race Equality Group are conducting a survey of local government organisations across London to capture views regarding terminology and language, particularly collective terms that describe Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. The findings will be used to produce a toolkit for London authorities. Find out more and take the survey by 8 July

Electric future for parking enforcement cars

Parking and Enforcement team have unveiled a new Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) car. The new vehicles, of which, this is the first of four, are fully electric Renault Zoe's, fitted out with ANPR that will transform how the council provide parking enforcement in Lambeth. Learn at Lambeth: Project management training

Learning and Development are pleased to announce the Level 4 Diploma in Project Management, in partnership with Corndel. This is work-based learning so staff will require 20% time away from their normal duties to complete. Managers will need to consider service impact where more than one member of staff is interested, especially in smaller teams. To find out more there are two information sessions coming up, the first being on 21 July, view details.

Lambeth Libraries launches summer programme

Lambeth Libraries has launched a summer programme for children starting with the Childrens and Young People’s Readers and Writers Festival 2022 and the Gadgeteers Summer Reading Challenge. There’s also lots going on for adults too, from talks with writers, learn how to field record, employment support and much more. All details are available in the latest libraries newsletter.

Coffee roulette – sign up 

Coffee roulette is an informal chat between two colleagues, who can use the opportunity to chat about whatever they want. It’s a great way to network and chat to colleagues you may not otherwise get a chance to meet, plus talking is a great way to connect and it’s good for your mental health too! Sign up to take part in the July session.

Could you help your community?

The Lambeth Together Care Partnership Board is recruiting two new Patient and Public Voice members to ensure that local people are involved at the highest level. Use your skills, experience and understanding of your community to help plan health and care services in our borough. Printer and printing survey

Lambeth Technology are conducting a survey to help them understand the supplier (Canon UK Ltd.) services to Lambeth and how satisfied colleagues are with the current printing service. This will also aid them to capture the staff’s suggestions which they will analyse and draft into a strategy for a more better service. The survey runs until 6 July. Take the survey.

Eid ul-Adha festival

Happy Eid ul-Adha festival to colleagues celebrating this festival which will begin on the evening of Saturday 9 July and last four days, coming to an end on the evening of Wednesday 13 July. It is the second of the two major Eid festivals celebrated by Muslims each year, and is based on the sighting of the moon.

The Outlook booking system is no longer in use.

Staff Christian prayer group – Tuesdays, 1pm

If you’re looking to seek the Lord in new ways, why not join other Lambeth Christian colleagues for prayer and worship?  The group meet online every Tuesday lunchtime sharing testimonies of faith, listening and engaging in Bible studies. File amnesty - find it, scan it, bin it

The Digital Records Programme Team have launched a two month File Amnesty across the Council. They are on the lookout for any historical physical files that might be lurking somewhere out there (in a cupboard, in your locker, at home or piled up under your desk etc) so that they can retrieve them and make digital copies. Let them know about any files you have.
