Baytree Centre - Coding Club Volunteer
Computer coding whilst young enables children to develop confidence and problem solving skills, boost imagination and become potential innovators.
Girls at Baytree use the online Scratch Coding programme along with Scratch coding cards to design games and projects working independently and as a group. We are seeking a volunteer to lead this popular and engaging club for girls aged 8 -11.
Skills in IT or computing are desired, but as Scratch is very user friendly, and easy to navigate, being particularly strong in IT is not a necessity. However, knowledge of using the internet as a resource tool and basic IT skills will do, ongoing support and training will be provided.

Age UK Lambeth - Home Cooks
Home Cooks is a service designed by MyNeighbour to support members of our local community who may not have access to a hot meal, for all sorts of reasons.
They are looking for volunteers who love cooking and can deliver a meal to someone in their local community. This could be a one-off meal, a weekly meal, every couple of weeks, even twice a week – it’s completely up to you to decide who you would like to cook for, and when, based on your favourite foods, your availability and where you are located.
Please get in touch to find out more.
Family Volunteers - Do you have parenting or childcare experience and skills?
Home-Start Lambeth volunteers provide support, friendship and practical help to families with at least one child under five who are experiencing difficulties. They’re reaching out for volunteers who can give about an hour per week for 6 months minimum (times can be flexible to suit both you and the family you are supporting). Volunteers will:
- Offer support tailored to the needs of the families over the phone, via Zoomor via socially distanced meet-ups.
- Build a supportive relationship with the family in which the challenges of family life can be discussed, positive strategies encouraged, and also encourage parents’ strengths and emotional well-being so they can best support their children.
- Encourage families to widen their network of relationships and to use the support and services available in the community effectively.
You’ll need to be able to be reliable, a good listener, and maintain confidentiality while recognising that there may be situations when disclosure is essential to the welfare of a child. Training will be provided online.
Your own experiences and skills can help another family more than you could imagine. Home Start Lambeth would love to hear from you.

Mawbey Brough Community Action Day
Building community connections in your local sharing space.
Mawbey Brough is full of residents with skills, stuff and ideas to share with each other. When we all come together to swap and share clothes, food, stories, ambitions (and even our problems) we can learn from each other, have fun, save money and protect the planet.
Would you like to have a stall or volunteer on the day, get outside and improve the local environment? There will be fun, interactive and engaging activities for you - and the chance to get your hands dirty - tidying shrubs and hedges, planting trees and flowers and de-weeding around the estate. Even if you can only pop down for an hour or so, please come and join in.
Join your neighbours, local community groups and Lambeth Council for an afternoon of connecting, sharing and making an impact. By showing what we can do in one afternoon we hope to open up a future of lots more community-led initiatives on your doorstep.
If you are interested in volunteering activities, please email Muheem on Mmiah@lambeth.gov.uk. If you are interested in having a stall, please email Hope Carpenter on hcarpenter@lambeth.gov.uk and we'll be in touch! We're looking for any skills you have to share with your community - repairs, cooking, alterations, music, storytelling etc!
What? Children's' activities, health and wellbeing activities, delicious surplus food, community stalls, cycle support, energy savings tips, clothes swap, planting and more.
When? Friday 17 June 3pm-7pm
Where? Mawbey Brough Estate, Wheatsheaf Hall
Help Needed With Deliveries at Brixton Food Hub
Healthy Living Platform is a Charity offering activities that benefit the health and well-being of the community.
To help families during COVID-19, Healthy Living Platform set up an emergency food hub inside Brixton Rec which arranges for surplus food to be distributed to local community centres. This important work is still ongoing!
Volunteers are needed to help inside the hub, packing and moving crates of food and unloading/loading delivery vans.
The Food Hub Manager, Mala, is looking for flexible volunteers to help with the logistics of meeting deliveries as they arrive and helping unload - if you are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between 11am to 3pm, please contact Mala to arrange time slots in advance on 07932 918 026.
