As March begins and we look forward to spring, we've been working with residents, organisations and businesses on our Climate Action Plan - a vision and set of goals for Lambeth to become net zero compatible and climate resilient by 2030. 23 local schools fitted with carbon-saving tech

This month we visited Heathbrook Primary School to see how solar power ☀️ air-source heat pumps 🍃 and smart lighting ⚡️ are reducing their emissions by more than 40 tonnes a year!

It's just one of 23 Lambeth schools we're retrofitting for the future 🌍

Lambeth residents are inner London’s best recyclers

Recycling

Recent figures from Defra show that recycling rates in the borough have risen to 36.4 per cent, up from 31.7 last year. This makes Lambeth the best recyclers in inner London.

Initiatives including our one bag a week challenge and food waste facilities for our estates have contributed to this success.

Free green skills training for residents

Green job

The number of green and low carbon jobs in central London is set to double over the next decade.

Lambeth Council is partnering with the Mayor’s Academies Programme, providing qualifications, training and apprenticeships for free for residents who are over-19 years old and unemployed or in low-income work.

We're all looking forward to spring and the better weather it brings. It's a perfect time to hop on a bike!

Try Before you Bike is a simple and affordable scheme allowing you to choose a new bike and accessories using the online tools. Your chosen bike then gets delivered straight to your door.

Energy savings grant available for Lambeth homes

Green Homes Grant

Are you struggling to pay your energy bills?

If you're a Lambeth homeowner or landlord with tenants meeting the eligibility criteria, we can support you to receive the Green Homes Grant - up to £10,000 towards energy saving works such as insulation and smart heating.

Your household must be:

  • Earning under £30,000 and
  • Have a low energy (EPC) rating of below D
