Lambeth Libraries Events for February 2022

LGBTQ+ History month

Library Services for February

After the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in Lambeth we are again restoring parts of our library service that had been paused. Although face coverings are no longer mandatory, please continue to wear them when visiting our libraries unless you are exempt.

Reading groups can meet again in the library if the group members wish to do so and our Wriggle and Rhyme times for young children have restarted, Contact your local library for days and times. West Norwood Library is also running a new session on Wednesdays between 1.30pm to 2.30pm called SENDsational Wriggle and Rhyme which is a slower-paced session for young children with disabilities to play, create, chat, sing, rhyme and read together.

We are also doing work on making our libraries more environmentally friendly. Our Home Library Service already runs on electric vehicles so now we are looking to make our buildings more energy efficient. The preparation building work means that Tate South Lambeth Library will be closed from Monday 31 January to Friday 4 February inclusive and Durning Library will be closed from Monday 7 February to Thursday 10 February inclusive. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

We have another full month of events and activities online and in-person for you to enjoy. I hope you find something interesting. Do come into your local library and see us - we have lots of lovely new books in - have a check on the catalogue for new titles.

Finally, if you're looking for something new to read or a bit of fun, why not check out one of our Queer Writing listchallenges this LGBTQ+ History Month? See how many you've read or find some new titles or authors to inspire you! Choose from our New LGBTQ+ Writing challenge or our New bi books challenge. On Twitter? Follow @Lamlibs #LGBTQHM22 and join the conversation by letting us know which LGBTQ+ books you are reading.
