December Library Events 2021

Xmas opening hours 2

Library Services for December

We know many of you will be pleased to hear that it is now no longer necessary to make appointments to come and borrow books or study in the library. However, we are still asking you to wear masks if you are able, follow social distancing measures and use the hand sanitiser.

Waterloo Library

A New Library for Waterloo. In 2015, Lambeth proposed that there should be a new library for the Waterloo area and identified the site near the Oasis Academy Johanna School as a good location. Waterloo Library is currently in a temporary location in the Oasis Hub Coffee House, and we have been working with Oasis Community Learning to find a permanent home for the service. The Johanna site development would provide a new home for Waterloo Library. It would be  larger and able to provide more services. It is still in the early stages of being planned and we would welcome your views on this project. To complete the survey visit https://forms.office.com/r/jZjcYY6Z0M or pick up a form in your library. For more information about the overall development please see the Oasis Johanna Development Scheme, Consultation Booklet which is available in your library or online. The survey ends on Monday 13th December 2021.

Support your local library and your local bookshop. Don’t forget to borrow extra books to enjoy over the holiday period, there are always lots of good titles published at this time of the year. If you are thinking of buying books as presents have a look on our library catalogue. If the book is on our catalogue at the end of entry you will find a link to Bookshop.org. If you click through and buy in this way the sales can go through local bookshops and a small amount will also go to your local library for each sale.

best book

What was the best book that you read in 2021? Why not share your reading delights with us and other Lambeth readers. It can be any book (adults, children, non-fiction, fiction, audiobook, graphic novel etc.), published in any year. The only caveat is that you have to have read it this year. Send us a photo of you holding the book with a sentence or two about why it was the best book you read this year. Send to Zoey at ZCDixon@Lambeth.gov.uk and we'll put them up on our Instagram.
