October is Black History Month in Lambeth Libraries - Events October 2021

open-to-discovery

October is Black History Month in Lambeth Libraries

Black History Month

Library Services from October

From mid-October you will no longer need an appointment to visit your library. We would like everyone to keep wearing a mask, use the sanitiser available in the library and maintain social distance – hands, face, space will help keep our libraries as a safe space for everyone. Newspapers and magazine will also be reintroduced in October and you will see in-library events and activities returning. To keep you safe the capacity of the rooms for activities will be reduced to 50%.

Also in mid-October the new library catalogue and information webpages will be launched. One feature is that you will be able to make online payments for any library charges you have on your card.

For those of you who play the piano, Brixton Library now has an electric piano that you can play when you come to the library.

An induction loop for people using a hearing aid with a T setting has now been installed in the gallery room at Brixton Library and at both service points. This is the first step in a plan to put induction loops in our libraries.

Do you know a child with visual impairment who wants to read books? We now have a collection of giant print books (24pt and 36pt font) available for children. The print in these books is bigger than large print books. The collection will be mainly at Clapham Library with a few at Tate South Lambeth Library where we provide a range of support for readers with visual impairment.
