Hello again. Due to high demand and an urgent role that needs filling, we hope you don’t mind a Team Lambeth newsletter two days in a row – it’s getting busy out there…
Yesterday’s newsletter kicked off a nice burst of interest for the Brixton Windmill roles, amongst others, so we thought you might like to see what the windmill looks like from the inside; here are some hardworking volunteers winching a tonne of grain up the four floors of the windmill for grinding – very rewarding, and fitness as a by-product! The Windmill roles, and others from yesterday’s newsletter are still open too, along with the additional roles below.
Herne Hill Forum – painter – urgent!
Herne Hill Forum are looking for a volunteer to paint a small wall in the Herne Hill Station underpass. This is in preparation for a charity photography exhibition by local photographer Julia Hawkins, which will run from December 13th until the end of January. You will need to prepare the wall by washing it down, apply painters’ tape and then paint it. The wall is small and therefore only a one-person job, but you will be in the company of the Herne Hill Forum Project Manager and the photographer who will be preparing other aspects of the exhibition. All equipment will be provided but they do ask you to wear a facemask as well as clothing that can get a bit 'painty'. Can you help with this on Friday 11 Dec 11am-2pm?
Carnegie Community Trust - Treasurer
Carnegie Community Trust needs to replace their current trustee treasurer. They’re looking for a volunteer with accounting/book-keeping/financial management experience to manage the finances, working with an employee and reporting to the trustees, as well as participating in other aspects of the Trust. The Trust meets for about 1 hour every fortnight, either in the Carnegie Library in Herne Hill, or by zoom. If you’ve got an additional 1-3 hours per week, you can be even more involved by joining subcommittees. Could this be you?
And a call for donations of technology as well as time:
Lambeth TechAid - Technology Recycling
Did you scoop a great tech bargain in the sales recently, or are you expecting a tech upgrade for Christmas? Lambeth TechAid are still collecting computers and phones that you no longer use or need, removing all data and ensuring that they work, and then delivering them to local residents who really need them. TechAid distribute via local schools, women’s aid groups, disability, refugee and other community organisations – if you’re upgrading your own computers or phones, you could add a great boost of festive joy to someone in real need.
TechAid are also looking for a range of volunteers - technical, practical, managerial... Please consider volunteering with them, or donating your old equipment to help someone else out here.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
And again, thank you for your understanding, getting two newsletters in a row. We’re trying to help Lambeth’s voluntary and community groups as much as we can.
