Happy Thursday! This week we have volunteering opportunities from Stockwell GPs, Lambeth Food Co-Op, OnHand, Age UK and Healthwatch.
Healthwatch
Healthwatch Lambeth are an organisation that champions the requirements of those who use health and social care services, making sure that those running them put people at the heart of care.
Lambeth Advance Care Planning Consortium is looking for volunteers to help local residents to record their future treatment and care preferences, either for the end of life or if they become unable to make or communicate decisions. Faced with the realities of the coronavirus pandemic, the importance of considering what matters to us in relation to our quality of life, medical treatment and health and care priorities have never been more essential. The Consortium is looking for 10 volunteer Champions to run awareness raising activities about advance care planning and 5 volunteer Supporters to help deliver the one-to-one service. They would require your assistance for at least 6 months, with volunteering hours being flexible.
Don’t worry if you are new to advance care planning. You’ll receive training and support every step of the way. Please note that a DBS check is required for the Supporter role.
Champion training will be on Wednesday 25 November, 5.30-7.30pm, and Supporter training will be on Tuesday 27 October, 11am-4pm. For more information and to register your interest, please sign up here.

Age UK Christmas project
Age UK Lambeth is an independent local charity working in Lambeth to offer support and services to older people.
This year has been tough for everyone, which has led to most of us experiencing isolation and separation ourselves. For some elderly members of the community this is their everyday life! This year they want to spread a little cheer for those who will be spending Christmas alone. And they would like your help! After all, wouldn’t it be amazing ending the year helping others?
They are looking for volunteers to simply cook an extra meal for Christmas this year and deliver it to someone in your community that will be completely on their own for Christmas day! Whatever you’re cooking on the day, whether it be Turkey with all the trimmings or another meal, why not cook a little extra and pop a meal into someone who is on their own. They will match you with someone local (walking distance) and they will supply a seasonal bag of goodies for them and drop off to you in advance.
To volunteer with Age UK and help with their Christmas meal initiative, please sign up here.
OnHand
The OnHand service is operating in the whole borough, providing support to residents who are not able to leave their homes due to Coronavirus or other health reasons, but not require an emergency food package. OnHand primarily offer support with food shopping, but are now offering a wider range of tasks, such as befriending calls or dog walking.
The time commitment is to assist with shopping or other tasks is just a few hours for one day a week.

Thank you for your continued support and have a lovely end of the week.
