Hope you are well. This week we have opportunities from OnHand, Healthy Living Platform and Healthwatch.
Healthy Living Platform
Healthy Living Platform is looking for 10 volunteers to help with food deliveries and assistance cooking their hot meals in the kitchen. They are a social enterprise all about offering activities which benefit the health and wellbeing of the whole community. To help families during COVID-19 Healthy Living Platform has been cooking and delivering nutritious hot meals for families and providing surplus fruit and vegetables too. If you live near Brixton, and have a couple of hours free each week to help with deliveries or help in the kitchen, Healthy Living Platform would love to hear from you! OnHand
The OnHand service has been operating in the whole borough, providing support to residents who are not able to leave their homes due to Coronavirus or other health reasons, but do not require an emergency food package. OnHand initially offered support with food shopping, but are now offering a wider range of volunteering tasks, such as befriending calls and check ins, gardening and dog walking.
The time commitment is very flexible, as it is up to you how many and what type of missions you accept.
In order to volunteer, please sign up here.
Healthwatch
Healthwatch are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services. Their purpose is to make sure that those running services put people at the heart of care.
For this project, they are looking for 1-2 volunteers to map and review the information about services and support for people living with dementia in Lambeth, as a contribution to Lambeth Dementia Action Alliance's three-year plan. The review will inform a consultation with local residents on dementia support, a gap analysis and the development of a new 6-monthly information leaflet on local dementia services.
The role will be diverse, with tasks including:
- Map existing support available for Lambeth residents living with dementia – this will include online searches and telephone interviews with specific service providers
- Encourage and support local service providers to add their service details to the Age UK Lambeth and Alzheimer’s Society online databases
- Review the support available, categorising it appropriately eg advice, dementia-friendly activities, support for unpaid/informal carers and other family members etc
- Create a visual map of the review findings which can be used by the DAA to conduct a gap analysis and inform the development of a new leaflet about local services
- Other ad hoc tasks as required eg registering new DAA members who join the local network as a result of the mapping project
- Optional opportunity to present the findings to the DAA steering group.
This opportunity is home based and Healthwatch will provide you with a SIM for your phone calls. The role will take an average of 20 hours of volunteering over October and November, being flexible with times and commencing on the 5th of October.
To sign up, please register here.
Thank you for your continued support and have a lovely end of the week.
