Sackville Estate in Streatham

Summer Youth Programme

Sackville Community Hall in Streatham reopened in August following a break of 18 months due to essential repairs.

This coincided with the summer school holidays and young people enjoyed an extensive programme of  cookery classes, arts and crafts and lifestyle workshops. In addition, the programme involved a number of external activities aimed at promoting health and fitness.

The project also extended to Streatham Hill Estate, Portobello Estate and Rosendale Gardens where young people benefited from similar activities throughout the month of August. Despite the challenges of 2020, the programme received warm support from all sectors of the community.

Waterloo Theatre 2

Waterloo Theatre held a nine-week drama project for 7-11-year olds from all over Lambeth. It’s a weekly one-hour sessions with dancing and theatre-making. Its based on The Theatre-Makers Doodle Book, an excellent resource for encouraging creativity and imagination in young people.

Some quotes from young people:

'I loved the games, particularly the 15 second challenges and the dancing, I also really like that we got sent the books and that we're using them".

'I like it all, I have to say this is the best club I've done online and my Mum signed me up to A LOT!! It's just fun! !

Mutual Aid Groups seeking Partnerships with TRA halls

There are several mutual aid groups in Lambeth that are continuing with their work as part of the ongoing Covid19 response. They are looking to set up local food co-ops and would like to partner with TRA halls and community spaces that can provide kitchen space, fridge, freezer and food storage at low or no cost.

If you have a hall or space that fits this description and would like to
partner with local mutual aid groups to provide food co-ops please contact Sarah Coyte and Andrew Billington.

This could be an excellent opportunity for your halls to remain in partial use in the interim until they can all fully reopen and host events again.

Help redesigned the customer centre at Lambeth Civic Centre

The Council is proposing changes to the design of the customer centre aimed at providing a new face to face service. We are particularly looking to hear from residents who find it difficult to access our services either online or by phone.
