TRA of the month

LEAF TRA

Continuing our theme of community LEAF TRA had its 3rd Big Lunch which is an annual event. This year it was held on 2 June as part of the national weekend for bringing communities together. This was kindly hosted by their neighbours the Jamm, who were nice enough to allow them the use of their terrace.

The Jamm's hospitality didn't stop there as enough food was cooked that the residents had plenty to take home. LEAF have a very strong focus on gardening so the main event was the veg and flower giveaway courtesy of a resident called Dawn at the Myatt’s Field Green House.

We will be returning to the LEAF TRA in the near future as they will be holding their street party and clean-up day on 15 September and a whole series of events throughout September as part of their National Lottery Heritage fund project to research the history of the shops, pubs and people in the area.

Building Safety Consultation

build

In December 2018, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government published its plan, Building a Safer Future and intends to bring forward new laws to improve building safety.

On 10 June they launched a consultation (see the quick read) on the details and invite your views over the next few weeks. We encourage you to take part in this consultation that closes on 31 July 2019.

Board Corner

Area Boards next meet in September, dates for which can be found in the Council’s calendar find-out-when-meetings-are). The Engagement Review has recommended the Area Boards should reflect the Areas now ie North and South. Changes to the number of Boards will be subject to Cabinet approval but this won’t change until Cabinet receives the report which is now due to be 16 September.

The first resident Task & Finish Group has now produced its report on the Communal repairs service. It makes 21 recommendations that will feed into the re-procurement deliberations now being undertaken before tendering the Estate Services contracts for 2020 as well as improvements needed now. There is an action plan drafted to address the recommendations and progress will be monitored by the Co-ordinating Committee. A copy of the report will be available via the website once published in July.
