Having the right information helps us shape and deliver services that truly meet your needs.
Awaab’s Law - tackling damp, mould, and condensation
From 27 October 2025, new national rules mean councils and housing providers must fix problems with damp, mould or condensation within strict time limits.
If you spot something in your home, please tell us straight away. We’ll check it out and make sure it’s sorted quickly and safely.
We’re also training all our staff to spot early signs of damp and mould, so issues can be picked up before they get worse.
 Harold Wilson Court improvements complete
The scaffolding’s down and the work is done! We’ve finished major fire safety upgrades at Harold Wilson Court — including new sprinklers, safer balconies and an updated external render to meet the latest fire safety standards.
A huge thank you to everyone who lives there for your patience while the work was carried out.
Next up, other safety improvements will soon be underway at other buildings across Kirklees, so more residents can benefit from the same high standards. We'll be updating affected tenants once we're ready to start work.
But what does this actually mean? You might not notice much difference day-to-day, but behind the scenes, it’s all change. After a busy few months, we’ve launched our upgraded housing system, the tool we use to manage all our jobs and keep things running smoothly.
It’ll help us work faster and give you a smoother service. Thanks for bearing with us while we made the switch!
One quick update: the bidding cycle for Choose N Move is now back to a 1-week cycle instead of two.
A warm welcome to Ash View
There’s a new place to call home in Ashbrow. Ash View, our latest Extra Care housing scheme in Huddersfield, with 50 bright, modern flats, where people can live independently with round-the-clock support.
There are plenty of shared spaces for catching up, joining in activities or just relaxing with neighbours.
To celebrate the opening, residents, staff and local people came together to cut the ribbon, share some cake and make it feel like home.
Ash View is already buzzing, and it’s lovely to see!

We know our complaints handling hasn’t always been where it should be, and we’ve been working hard to put that right.
The Housing Ombudsman’s Annual Complaints Review, which reports on social landlords' performance nationally, shows encouraging progress.
We have compared our performance, which shows fewer serious findings than landlords and councils of a similar size.
Whilst these results show we’re moving in the right direction, we know there’s still more work to do. Listening to feedback and acting on it is vital, and we’ll continue to improve our approach to deliver a better service for you.
We know this time of year can be expensive, with heating, food and bills all adding up. But there’s help available, and a few small changes can make a big difference.
Our Money Advice Team can:
-
Help you check what benefits or grants you might be entitled to
-
Work with you to make a realistic plan for bills and rent
-
Give tips on cutting everyday costs and saving energy
It’s all free and confidential, and you don’t need to be in debt to get support.
  Three quick tips!
Keep the warmth in...Close curtains before it gets dark and check for a breeze around doors or windows. Even a simple door snake or rolled towel can help keep the heat in.
Fill the freezer...A full freezer uses less energy than an empty one because it holds the cold better. If it’s not full, fill gaps with bread or bottles of water.
Reuse the oven heat...When you’ve finished cooking, leave the oven door open (if it’s safe) to let some heat into your kitchen.
