Huddersfield Library is moving

Black and white image of Huddersfield Library under construction

Huddersfield Library is moving to a temporary new space as part of Kirklees Council’s plans to redevelop the town centre.

The Adult's and Children's Libraries, along with the public access computer suite, are moving up the road to the Customer Service Centre building on Market Street. Here they will be co-located with the customer services team. This new temporary library will open in early January 2023.

Kirklees Local Studies Library and Kirklees Transcription Service will be temporarily relocating to premises on Victoria Lane, where they will be co-located with the West Yorkshire Archive Service. These are due to open in February 2023.

More info at: New beginnings as Huddersfield Library relocates from building after 80 years

The final chapter of Huddersfield Library in the building on Princess Alexandra Walk will be from 9.30 am to 12 noon on Saturday, December 31.

Richard Osman book competition

Front covers of two Richard Osman novels

We have two Richard Osman paperbacks to give away to readers of this Read Kirklees newsletter.

All you have to do, well almost, is answer this question:

Q. Which book did Richard Osman choose to take to a desert island?

Then email your answer, along with your name, contact number and the Kirklees Library you would like to pick up your book from, to: READ@kirklees.gov.uk before midnight, Friday, January 8.

First correct answer pulled out of the virtual hat will receive 'The Thursday Murder Club', the second correct answer will receive, you've guessed it, 'The Man Who Died Twice'.
