EU transition period ends soon; act now to get your business ready
The United Kingdom will leave the European Union single market and customs union on 1 January 2021.
This may be with a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) but, if no deal is reached, the UK will default to World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules which means that tariffs will be imposed on traded goods and services.
Whatever happens, you should act now to get your business ready for the new rules, particularly if you:
- import goods into the UK
- export goods from the UK
- travel to the EU
- have staff that live and work in the EU
- have staff that are staying in the UK and are EU citizen’s
- transfer data between the UK and EU
Visit www.gov.uk/transition and answer a few questions to get a personalised list of actions you need to take.
Watch the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy free webinars (available on demand) to check the new rules and understand the actions to take.
Join a free EU transition webninar (more dates will be released for December). These are hosted by York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership and are open to all Kirklees businesses.
