Hello! Welcome back to 'Staying Healthy',
It’s good to see you, how are you? You may have heard the news that from the 14th September, gatherings of more than six people will be illegal, as announced by the government this week. You can find out everything you need to know about the new guidance on the BBC. This news comes amid fears that cases of Covid-19 are quickly rising in communities across the UK.
Reacting to a pandemic means that we have to adapt quickly and respond to new information, if you are finding it difficult to cope with these changes and how it affects your life, the Mental Health Foundation may be able to offer some helpful advice.
Winter Flu jab

It’s that time of year again, roll up your sleeve for the Winter Flu jab. More of us are eligible for a free vaccine this year so don’t miss out, especially if you or someone you live with is vulnerable. If we have a stronger shield against flu, we will be in a better position to tackle Covid-19 and take some pressure off the NHS. Contact your GP or book an appointment at a local pharmacy. More information is available from the NHS.
Know your numbers

Did you know that high blood pressure is the main risk factor for heart disease and stroke in the UK? Luckily, it is also easily diagnosed and controlled. Your diet, exercise, and your weight all have an impact on blood pressure, but there aren’t usually obvious symptoms that will let you know that your blood pressure is high. Find out how to test your blood pressure at home so you can stay in control and improve your health.

If you have been affected by the loss of someone to suicide, you can contact the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Suicide Bereavement Support Service, established as a response to the fact that people bereaved by suicide are more likely to suffer from depression, PTSD or have suicidal thoughts themselves.
