We’re looking at a variety of ways to keep in touch with you and will now be sending out our two email newsletters (Library Adventures and Read Kirklees) weekly. There will be a focus on books, of reading for pleasure and they will include author recommendations, book reviews and links to book collections and resources.
Here’s where we'd love your support. We need short reviews of any of the titles in our ebook collection. Librarians are adding hundreds of new titles but your reviews could be of books you read years ago, last month or just last night (both adult and children's titles). If you’ve got aspiring writers at home, of any age, then see the 'Keep in touch' section for how to get involved.

The Salt Path by Raynor Winn
The Salt Path is a wonderful inspirational book affirming the power that the natural world has over the human spirit. It is a tale of hope against adversity and will be a pleasure to read for anyone, but especially those for who love the countryside or who are facing seemingly insurmountable difficulties in their life. Raynor Winn and her husband Moth decide to walk the 630 miles along the South West Coast Path after Moth is diagnosed with a terminal illness and they simultaneous lose their much loved home. The book is the story about the massive challenges of this walk. As you read you really want them to make it to the end of the path, but also you don’t want the journey to end because of the enjoyment of reading the descriptions of the Cornish coast, the sea and the natural world. If you do read and enjoy this book Raynor Winn is publishing a sequel in September 2020, The Wild Silence. This is something I am really looking forward to reading. (Elaine Bates)
