Join the Orchestra of Opera North for a stunning concert this November and revel in the works of two masterpieces of English music: Britten's sensational Soirées musicales Op. 9 and Elgar's beautiful First Symphony. Also on the programme is Mozart's exquisite Violin Concerto No. 5 – don’t miss this selection of breathtakingly beautiful scores.
Find out a little bit more about the pieces of music you will hear below:
Benjamin Britten, Soirées musicales Op. 9: A quickfire set of five movements, the piece swiftly dances
from the jovial March into the sparkling movements that follow – simply
mesmerising.

Mozart, Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major: Bursting with intricate detailing, the melodies tumble
from heartfelt poignancy to expressive energy in this charmingly beautiful
score. American soloist Elena
Urioste makes her debut at the Kirklees Concert Season to perform this
magnificent piece.
|
Elgar, Symphony No.1:
Bursting with sensational flourishes, bold statements and dramatic punches, the
symphony swells as the atmospheric phrasing intensifies and is incredible when
performed live.
|
The concert will be led by acclaimed conductor
Garry Walker. Garry last conducted the orchestra in Opera North's five-star
production of Billy Budd, we're delighted to bring this electric relationship
back to the concert hall.
