London Collection Bursary
The Museum of London offers a bursary for students, regardless of their field of study, to explore how their education could relate to the museum and heritage sector.
Opportunity includes:
- £1000 annual bursary (paid in the first term of 2024)
- Two-month paid summer placement at the Museum of London each year of undergraduate studies, starting summer 2025
How to Apply: Register your interest by emailing us with your name. Application details will be sent on Monday 1st July, 2024. Check your junk folder if not received.
This bursary aims to open the museum and heritage sector to young people, especially those facing educational barriers.
Applications will close on Sunday 21st July at 23:59. they will invite a small number of shortlisted applicants to an informal discussion with us on Thursday 8th August before making our final decision.

Civil Service: Care Leaver Internship Scheme
Application open between 10th June - 8th July | Invited to book for interview if successful 25th July
 The Civil Service Care Leaver Internship Scheme is an award-winning scheme run by the Department for Education. It offers care leavers an 18-month paid internship in a central government department or agency. There is a possibility that the post can be made permanent after 12 months depending on the following factors:
- Performance over the 12 months.
- Headcount within the department.
- Funding.

Training
Somali Ambassador Programme
The Youth Employment Progressions and Skills Service seeks Somali youth (18-25) for the Somali Ambassador Programme. This 12-week, part-time internship pays London Living Wage and involves creating skills development activities, raising awareness of council services, and peer-to-peer work. Ambassadors will help access hidden Not in Employment Education or Training (NEET), promote employment opportunities, and enhance their own employment skills through marketing, event planning, and project work. This role offers a taste of council work, CV enhancement, and community impact. Supported by a YES team adviser, Ambassadors will work at least once a week from the Corker Walk Youth Employment Hub or check in with the lead officer.

OV Theatre Makers
Training Programme | 6 month | Ages 18 -30 | UK Wide | Deadline for applications: Saturday 30 June 11pm.
 This free theatre training programme is open for young people who want to develop their theatre making skills and covers a broad range of specialisms such as writing, directing, and producing. Participants receive free tickets to Old Vic productions as well as a ticket bursary to go and see productions at other venues.
They can provide support with transport/accommodation costs and can make access adjustments at all stages of the application process and programme.

Retrofit in Construction
Free Course | 3 weeks | Level 2 | Monday- Friday | 24th June - 11th July
This is a free course to start a career in construction!
Week 1 & 2: In person at Green Skills Hub, Holloway Park, Parkhurst Road, N7 0NU
Week 3: in-person at CONEL, Tottenham Centre, High Road, N15 4RU
Eligibility:
- Islington or Camden resident 19+ years old
- We strongly encourage female applicants
What will you learn:
- Building fabric
- Key concepts of retrofitting
- Domestic retrofit materials and processes
- Overview of installation methods for walls, roofs, floors, windows, and doors

Graduate Connector Programme
The Graduate Connector Programme is a new one-year pilot that seeks to engage 200 ethnic minority graduates, supporting 100 into employment. Graduates will be matched with valuable work opportunities from a range of employers in different sectors and will receive support to help them gain the experience needed to land their first graduate job. These include vacancies, internships, apprenticeships, mentoring and coaching as well as paid-placements, networking opportunities, pre-application workshops and employer insight days amongst others.
This programme is open to graduates from Black, Asian and Mixed heritage backgrounds aged 21-30 who reside in London. This offer is not open to graduates who studied as international students.

 Digital platforms are now essential for boosting engagement and brand awareness. Our Level 3 Digital & Social Media Marketing program prepares you for diverse industry roles, from ideation to trend analysis.
This accredited online course enhances your digital and IT skills, offering technical knowledge and practical experience valued by employers, with support from Just IT.
National Youth Theatre
Playing Up Course, Applications now open for Playing Up 2024/25!
Playing Up is a Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Theatre Arts accredited through OCN London. It is a practical ten-month part-time drama training programme, offering young people aged 19 – 25* who are not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) the opportunity to gain a Level 3 qualification in drama. Playing Up is delivered in partnership with The JGA Group.
Places are available to both NYT members and non-members between the ages of 19 and 25 years old, *or up to 30 if learning disabled.

Salesforce and Digital Leap Work Experience Programme
Are you aged 18-23 and looking to get ahead in Tech?
Not in Full time education, employment, or have not completed a University Degree.
Digital leap is working with Salesforce to offer a 2-week work experience programme along with s 4 day employability upskilling course.
Work on real- world projects, following completion get 6 months coaching support from Catch 22 to help develop your skills further.

Festival Volunteer Programme
 Attention all aspiring technical prodigies of the stage! Free Basic skills
For young people aged 18 plus.
The Lifelong Learning Centre CCG at Finsbury Park are running these courses leading to GCSE examinations in English and Maths free of charge.
These intensive courses in GCSE English and GCSE Maths started this month and will have another interview session / assessment tomorrow at 3pm.

The Spear Programme
Starts Tuesday 25th June 2024
What Spear offers: Six weeks of free coaching designed to improve confidence, and develop work-ready mindsets, skills, and resources, followed by 12 months of support from a qualified coach.
Who to the Programme is for:
- 16-24 years old
- Not in Education, Employment or Training (nor University Graduates)
- Able to commit to four sessions a week for six weeks.
At least 75% of those we support get into work, education or training and are still there 12 months later!
We’re happy to say that two of the cohort who have just completed are already in work, and several have second interviews lined up!

Apply for a Childcare Bursary
If you live in Islington, claiming benefits and a have a child aged 0-16 (or up to 18 with disabilities) who needs childcare, you may be entitled to a Childcare Bursary.
The bursary is there to help parents who are starting work, a work placement, or short-term training to pay for childcare. It does not need to be paid back.
