Islington Recycles Newsletter
Come to our Repair and Reuse events
As part of Islington’s net-zero carbon ambition we want to help residents to reduce emissions from consumption when buying unnecessary stuff. So, we’d like to encourage more things to be repaired or shared to extend their useful life.
To help residents to do just that we would like to invite everyone to come and join these free swapping and repairing events.

Repair electrical and electronic items Café
November 22nd 11am to 3pm
We have teamed up with City University of London to offer residents these free repairs. Do you have a slow computer or mobile phone? Is your computer not starting or you can't run programmes that you need? Bring that lamp sitting in the corner since it started flickering and that radio that does not always want to switch on. We will work with you to fix these and share skills that could help you to help yourself in future. In addition, you will be able to browse a display of upcycled items, see inner city beehives and help to repair these, play eco-games.
The Pavilion, City University of London, Northampton Square, London, EC1V 0HB, UK.

Did you know... Loanhood is the fashion rental app made for people who want to wear new stuff without buying new. On the app, Loaners can borrow other people’s clothes or rent out their own to make some money. It’s reinventing the way fashion works (for the better).

Do you want to see regular Restart Parties (Repair Cafés) happening in Islington?
Then come along to this community engagement event!
What is a Restart Party?
It's a free community repair event where volunteers help people fix their own broken or slow electronic devices and small appliances, to save them from waste and change our relationship with electronics. They have a fun and casual spirit where all are welcome to meet and mingle over a cup of tea, and share in the fun of repair
If you'd like to get involved as a fixer, host, data collector, provide admin support or are just interested in finding out more... we'd love to see you there.
Meet like-minded individuals and find out how you can get involved in this group at the community engagement event
When and where?
Wednesday 6th December 2023, 18:30 to 20:00 at the Islington Climate Centre, Ground Floor, Angel Central, Parkfield St, Islington, N1 0PS
Please book a ticket to let us know you’re coming (we need to make sure we have enough cake!).
