EMPOWER-Islington
Want to learn about various careers and how you can choose a career path? Do you want to gain various career skills? Curious about what a university looks like?
EMPOWER-Islington is offering a workshop to empower your future career, including giving you tools to explore different career paths, and helping you explore higher education choices. Led by a higher education expert and current higher education students, this workshop will equip you with skills to explore and plan your future.
This workshop has been created in response to young people voicing their need for support with careers, higher education choices, and employability. The workshop will include talks and activities, such as learning about the university application process, and exploring where you can apply your skills! This is a great opportunity for young people to learn more about their skills and think about your futures with each other.

Short Sharp Shot programme
Short Sharp Shot is a PAID 8-week programme for young people aged between 18-25 years old, who are interested in getting a career in the creative industries.
Participants will have access to Q&As, Workshops, Industry Tours, Employability and Software training and an Arts award qualification at the end. Alongside this training they will be introduced to industry professionals who work in SYNC, A+R, Data & Insights, Marketing & Advertising, Management, Merchandise, PR, Live music & events, Radio, Photography & Videography. This is a fantastic opportunity not to be missed!

Apprenticeship Insight Session
Join our apprenticeship information session to find out more about Islington Council's apprenticeship programme. You may get a chance to hear from hiring manager or current apprentices, and we'll even provide hints and tips on applying.
The session will last approximately 30 minutes and will be delivered virtually on Zoom
Eligibility criteria for our apprenticeships:
- Be aged 16 or above AND;
- Be an Islington resident OR;
- Islington care leaver OR;
- Islington school leaver in the last 12 months OR;
- Be connected to Islington through completion of studies in the last 2 years (at any level) at an Islington based educational institution

The purpose of the job is to provide person-centred welfare benefits advice, information and advocacy for women in Greater London. The Adviser will also refer clients to our other services, as well as externally to legal aid, housing departments, adult social care etc, to help them access the support they need.
Main duties of the job:
- Triage clients to find out what support they need and identify the best way to help them.
- Deliver advice and information through face-to-face appointments, telephone and email.
- Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
- Use Arachne resources to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information to clients.
Essential:
- Experience of delivering welfare rights-based advice or advocacy work.
- Experience of performance measurement and evaluation systems.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality in relation to a range of sensitive information required.

We are responsible for planning and delivering creative and high-quality campaigns across digital channels. You will gain an understanding of the work of the team and will work in a supported learning environment whilst working towards a nationally recognised level 3 digital marketer apprenticeship.
Main duties of the job:
- Support us to plan and implement digital campaigns (social media, websites and email bulletins)
- Produce creative written and visual content such as videos
- Respond to customer requests on our digital channels
- Share your ideas on how we can creatively communicate with audiences
- Use data to analyse the performance of our channels
You must not have extensive skills or experience in this apprenticeship subject.

12 week programme from Good Nugget - KickStart!

This programme will help underrepresented young people aged 18-25 gain industry insights and soft/practical skills needed to progress into entry-level opportunities.
In the 12 weeks of the programme there will be live workshops, online learning modules, networking opportunities, dedicated mentors and the opportunity to apply for 1 weeks paid work experience with an industry partner.

Free Opportunities for Young People with Open Door
Open Door is an award winning organisation that helps talented young people who do not have the financial support or resources to gain a place at one of the UK’s leading drama schools.
They work with people aged between 18-30 (Actors) 17-30 (Behind the Scenes) who are serious about pursuing a career in either Acting, Technical Theatre or Production Arts. Their work breaks down barriers that young people may face, allowing them to compete for a drama school training on a level playing field - that will prepare them for a career in television, film and theatre.

This Place, are teaming up with LIFT to run an online ‘Introduction to Product Design’ session. Whether you’ve got a keen interest in the field, or you’ve never heard of ‘digital product design’ before, this session is for you. You’ll leave with an understanding of what a digital product designer does on a day-to-day basis and practical tips on how to get into the industry.

Creative Re-Work provides a full programme of professional contemporary dance classes, industry focused workshops, 1:2:1 careers advice and guidance and a range of opportunities to develop and share your work.
They tend to aim to support independent dance artists, there is scope for those involved in other aspects of performance art to be involved in the 1:2:1 and workshop elements of the project.
