Secondary school applications

The deadline is approaching fast

The time to make your final choices about which schools to apply for is approaching. We recommend that you submit your application by Friday 21 October in case there are any issues with making your online application. The deadline for submitting your application is Monday 31 October. Applications after this date will be late and won’t be processed until after all on-time applications. What proof do I need? There are two types of proof that you need to submit as part of your application. One is proof of your address, and the other is proof that your child lives with you. Depending on your choice of school you may also have to complete a supplementary information form (SIF).

How do I apply? Apply online! It is by far the best and easiest way to do it. You can do your application in stages and change the information as many times as you want before you submit it. Our friendly School Admissions team is here to help and support you completing the form. They can explain the process and answer all of your questions and concerns.

Helping with the cost of living crisis Free school meals are available to some secondary school pupils. Your child may be eligible if you receive certain benefits. There is also a uniform grant available to help with the cost of school uniforms when your child transfers to secondary school.

Top tips

Don't...

• List private schools on your application – you should apply directly to the private school.
• Wait till the last minute to apply – you may have a problem getting online or logging on. Give yourself plenty of time to think things through carefully.
• List only one school – your application will not be treated more favourably and you could lose out on another school you like.
