Stay well and healthy this winter
With Covid-19 cases across the UK increasing and the NHS coming under more pressure as we’ve moved into autumn, there are things we can all do to help stay healthy and protect others – from topping up your immunity with flu and Covid-19 vaccinations, to staying active, eating healthily and keeping warm. There’s advice and support on our website.
If you haven’t made time for the Covid-19 vaccine or you’ve been unsure about getting it, it’s not too late. You can get the jab free without an appointment at sites and pharmacies in the area. Staff there, and our We are Islington helpline team on 020 7527 8900, are on hand to support and answer questions or concerns you have.
A new website EverythingCovid.info, created for young people, by young people, offers a great mix of content from social media influencers and honest accounts of people’s vaccination journeys.

Helping our residents into employment
We have helped more than 4,000 residents into decent jobs since April 2018. By focusing on local recruitment for local jobs, matching skillsets to vacancies, and offering tailored employment support, local residents have been able to secure decent jobs.
We are continuing to make great strides towards carving out a fairer employment landscape for local people and helping them to access the skills and support they need.

Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) expansion is here
TFL’s Ultra Low Emission Zone has expanded up to (but not including) the North Circular Road and South Circular Road. The whole borough of Islington is now included within the zone. Don’t get caught, check to see if your vehicle meets the ULEZ emission standards. If it does not meet the standards you will have to pay a daily charge to drive within the zone. If you have an older vehicle you may qualify for the scrappage scheme.
