Fostering changes lives
If you are looking for a change of career that's not only fulfilling, but also really helps someone else, then why not consider fostering? Fostering is a great career option and Islington offers competitive allowances, fantastic professional support and ongoing training, plus its Children’s Social Care is rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
Fostering is also incredibly rewarding because your support will be making a difference to a young life. You don’t need qualifications, but you do need space in your heart and a room in your home. Every day across Islington, people who care about their community make a positive contribution to the lives of others. This has been particularly true during the challenging times of covid. These actions often go unrewarded, but we want to hear about anybody you think deserves recognition for their unique contribution to life in Islington. Nominations for the Mayor’s Civic Awards and the Ben Kinsella Award are open now until Friday 19 February. Read about last year's winners.

Green improvements for homeowners
Thinking about renovating your property or making some changes? You might be eligible for one of the following schemes, which are designed to help homeowners make more environmentally friendly improvements.
The council is running a Green Homes Grant scheme aimed at lower income households, in the most poorly insulated homes. Homes with an E, F or G-rated Energy Performance Certificate will be receiving a letter and should contact the Energy Advice team to see if they qualify. You will need to have a household income of £30,000 per year or below.
Ecofurb provides homeowners with an easier route to a low carbon home by providing retrofit coordination and specification information, access to contractors, design professionals and quality assurance.
