Keep the Island safe

On 12 July, the government will announce whether COVID restrictions will end on 19 July. Although they are low compared to the rest of the country, COVID-19 cases are rising on the Island. Please keep staying COVID safe. It helps protect other people who are vulnerable, reduces transmission and helps to stop variants of the virus.

Taking a test at Newclose

If you have COVID-19 symptoms and need to get tested, you should always book an appointment.

Please book online or call 119 to get tested at Newclose Cricket Club, Blackwater Road, Newport, PO30 3BE.

You can also order a home test kit if you prefer.

Please remember the COVID-19 symptoms:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature);
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual);
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

Latest Island COVID-19 and vaccine statistics

These are the latest published vaccination and COVID-19 stats for the Isle of Wight, from NHS England and Public Health England, respectively. 

Cases are expected to fluctuate as we come out of lockdown and the government's programme of rapid response testing for people without symptoms is rolled out.

The vaccination statistics for the Isle of Wight, published by NHS England on 1 July 2021 including data up to 27 June 2021.

The graphic shows the following:

  • 103,879 - The number of Island residents who have received their first dose of the vaccine.
  • 85,909 - The number of Island residents who have received their second dose of the vaccine.
  • 6,998 - The number of confirmed cases to date of Island residents who have received a positive COVID-19 test result since March 2020. This is based on the residential address of the person tested rather than where they are registered with a GP.
  • 43 - The number of positive cases in the seven-day period.
  • 30.3 - Weekly cases per 100,000. This is the number of Island residents who have received a positive COVID-19 test result in the seven-day period, divided by the total population of the Island.
