Funded visit to EUREKA Innovation Days 2018 Matchmaking, Helsinki

EEN in conjunction with Innovate UK invites you to attend EUREKA Innovation Days 2018 - "The power of collaboration" taking place in Helsinki 22nd-24th May 2018.

Hosted by the EUREKA Finnish Chair (2017-2018), this event will bring together over 1000 participants representing European industry, SMEs across key sectors, research, policy stakeholders and academia focusing on Smart Industries. Delegates will have the opportunity to book pre-arranged business meetings during the matchmaking event and gain insight into the Eureka Eurostars funding programme: an ideal framework for technical and commercial collaboration on an international level.

Horizon 2020 progress since the first round of Brexit negotiations

Following the announcement last October that the UK Government guarantees to underwrite Horizon 2020 funding, the UK research and innovation (R&I) community is encouraged to continue applying for Horizon 2020 funding and participating in Horizon 2020 projects. Horizon 2020 mission to Netherlands, 17th-18th May
For those UK businesses who are involved in the Electric, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles sectors, Innovate UK and EEN are organising a mission to the Netherlands focusing on Horizon 2020 calls. UK ratifies Hague Agreement for industrial designs

The UK has completed its final step in joining the Hague Agreement for industrial designs. The UK instrument of ratification was deposited in Geneva and will come into effect from the middle of June 2018. Users will then be able to choose design protection in the UK for international applications. Read more …

Innovative solutions sought for health and care challenges

The Biomedical Catalyst is offering support in the development of innovative healthcare products, technologies and processes. The current funding challenges are open for applications:

Early Stage - SMEs can apply for a share of up to £8 million to continue a project's early stage development and technical evaluation, up to readiness for clinical testing. View the funding competition details.

Feasibility Stage - SMEs can apply for a share of up to £2 million to explore and evaluate the commercial potential of a scientific idea that could solve a healthcare challenge. View the funding competition details.

Projects can include (but are not limited to): disease prevention and proactive management of health and chronic conditions, earlier and better detection and diagnosis of disease, leading to better patient outcomes, tailored treatments that either change the underlying disease or offer potential cures.

Events

Lean Start-Up, 14th April, Cambridge
A new, fully-funded project has been launched to support ICT researchers, SMEs and start-ups across Europe to realise the full potential and impact of their research and to support them with market validation and commercialisation. The MERLIN project (Methodologies for Researcher Led Innovations) will be running a series of workshops over the coming months.

You are invited to take part in the first in the series of workshops, the Lean Start-Up, dedicated to the lean start-up methodology and learn about key techniques designed to create fast-growing ventures.

Hannover Messe 2018, 23rd–27th April, Hannover, Germany
Registration is now open for two brokerage events organised by EEN at Hannover Messe, the world’s leading trade show for industrial technology.  All key technologies and core areas of industry from research and development, industrial automation, IT, industrial supply, production technologies and services to energy and mobility technologies will be represented at this key event. Horizon 2020 Brokerage Event, 27th April, Paris
Businesses operating in the Space, Environment and Transport sectors are invited to join the first Horizon 2020 Brokerage event dedicated to these communities. The event will offer delegates the opportunity to hear the latest information from the European Commission regarding H2020 calls, present your project in front of an international audience and meet with potential partners for future consortium partnerships.

UK - Spain bilateral event for Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials, 15th –16th May, Cambridge

EEN invites businesses, research organisations and universities that are active in the development or application of nanotechnologies and advanced materials, to participate in a two day bilateral event focusing on these sectors. The overarching goal of this event will be to provide an opportunity for UK and Spanish organisations to identify areas of mutual benefit and explore routes to establish partnerships that can lead to successful future projects.

EEN Brokerage Event at ICT Spring 2018, 15th-16th May, Luxembourg

EEN will be holding a brokerage event during the ICT Spring Conference in Luxembourg this will provide opportunities to attend business meetings during two days, gain insight into the latest technological advances and innovations in the ICT sector and develop strategic partnerships in the ICT community in Europe and beyond.
