The HuFree: Gallery, located on the top floor of Western Library, opened in May 2025. It showcases and celebrates photography, film-making and print inspired artwork that arises from working class life in HU3 and Hull.
The gallery has been developed with The Encyclopedia of Us (EofUs) - a co-production with residents, artists, groups, businesses and organisations. With an ambition to create congenial spaces in place, in print, in person.
You can read more about the gallery in the latest EofUs newspaper. It's an excellent publication - and not just because of the fabulous article with the staff at Western Library (p12) or the interview with Librarian (and artist) Isaac Acheampong (p38)! Read all about it here.
