The Pearson Park Newsletter - Issue 2 is wholly dedicated to the forthcoming Entrance Gateway Grand Opening event. This is an important milestone for the restoration works and history of the park and we hope you can make it on Thursday 19 December.
We are extremely pleased and excited to announce that we will be celebrating the much anticipated return of the iconic Entrance Gateway back to Pearson Park!
The Gateway was originally constructed in 1863 and over the past year, this huge cast iron structure has undergone extensive restoration which has involved the repair of corroded metalwork and the painstaking recreation of historic detailing lost over the structure’s 150 year lifetime.
To welcome the Gateway’s return, we would love you to join us in celebrating this unique event on Thursday 19 December from 3.30 - 4.30pm, where the Lord Mayor will officially open the Gateway and its newly restored lanterns and lights will be lit.
There will also be entertainment and an exhibition to show the intricate processes involved in the restoration process, which will be held in the newly refurbished Bowling Pavilion from 2pm till 6pm. This is your chance to meet the historic metalwork specialists from Lost Art who have restored the Entrance Gateway to its former glory.
