Seasons Greeting from Arts Development
Well, where did that go?
If you have been wondering where on earth the time went this year, you are not alone.
Many people have commented to me that this year has gone quickly, partly I think as we have all been in some ways recovering from the intensity of our year in the spotlight.
So, if you get the chance this Christmas, take a minute to reflect on all the you have achieved this year. There has been lots to celebrate and enjoy, and there is much to look forward to.
Our hope is that, whatever your art-form interest, whichever was your favourite event, happening, exhibition, gig, performance or stand-out art ‘thing’ of 2018, it inspires you to even greater involvement next year.
Over 4000 people now receive this email every 2 weeks. Most of you are directly involved in arts and culture in some way, and collectively you make up a core of energy, expertise and enthusiasm for the arts from which the whole city benefits.
So thank you, you make it all happen and we wish you a peaceful Christmas and a very happy New Year.
Festive Break
Please note that the arts development office will be shut for Christmas from Monday 24 December - Friday 4 January. The next newsletter will be published Friday 18 January.

The Greatest Showcase
Friday 25 January, 7pm £6 full price / £5 children, students and over 65. Middleton Hall University of Hull HU67RX
Tonight’s showcase is a celebration of pop icons and the characteristics that constitute them. Expression – Uniqueness – Strength – Individuality – Confidence. These are the qualities that not only define our icons, but also shape our performers. Using the medium of dance, our students build strength and confidence through expression – learning to take pride in uniqueness and celebrate individuality. Over 100 performers from Years 7 to 13 will tonight draw inspiration from an array of world-famous icons, from Elvis to Lady Gaga and Queen to Kylie, to celebrate their differences and strive for success. The Greatest Showcase aims to celebrate the talent of some of music’s most ubiquitous performers and, more importantly, the talent and skill of students at Withernsea High School. In the words of Lady Gaga; “Don’t you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are” Please applaud our performers as they give recognition to the legends of music, whilst they themselves continue on their journeys of self-discovery as young adults.
