We are looking for an efficient, hardworking and enthusiastic Assistant Legal Officer to join the Social Care Team (Childcare) within Legal Services.

Previous experience of legal work is not essential but would be desirable.

You will be required to carry out a range of specialised legal duties including accurately preparing, updating and maintaining large bundles of evidence for use in trials and other hearings, simple advocacy and giving procedural legal advice.  The post will involve a significant amount of liaison with witnesses and clients.

You should be confident in dealing with clients, partners, external professionals and also members of the public.  You must be highly organised and have excellent administrative, IT and communication skills. The Legal Service operates an electronic case management system with limited paper files.

The work can, at times, be emotionally demanding and as the team is very busy you must be able to demonstrate that you are able to deal effectively with a busy workload which is subject to tight deadlines.

You may be required to attend court to liaise between witnesses and barristers representing the Council and to conduct some simple hearings in District Judges Chambers/ Magistrates Court on behalf of the Council.

We are a friendly, busy and well supported legal team who provide a high quality and well regarded service to our users.

Fixed Term for up to 3 years (subject to continuation of funding).

Hull City Council is the lead partner and accountable body in a Humber Business Growth Hub programme, set to deliver an exciting new ERDF funded expansion of the Growth Hub service.

We are looking to recruit a Programme Officer to support the Programme Manager in running  the programme, taking responsibility for specifying and commissioning delivery aspects of the programme, processing applications for funding support, eligibility checks, producing client reports, financial management, funding claims, audit and monitoring and utilising and maintaining an appropriate recording/CRM system over a 3 year period.

You will identify and engage with a large volume of small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) in the Humber LEP area, providing them with key information about the Growth Hub service and assessing eligibility for the programme.  You will therefore have experience of ERDF funding programmes/externally funded projects.

You will work closely with the Programme Manager of the Growth Hub service, based at the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership.

The Growth Hub programme, including the Programme Officer role, is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investments Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.  Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regeneration.
