Come along and take part in these FREE craft activities to entertain your children and you this summer holiday, inspired by Hull Museums’ collections...

Wednesday 29th July, 10am-1pm - Wilberforce House Museum

Inspired by William Wilberforce, create your very own Georgian style desk tidy!

Friday 7th August, 10am-1pm - Hull & East Riding Museum

Make like a scribe and illuminate your own Medieval initial!

Saturday 15th August, 10am-1pm - Streetlife Museum

Create a colourful Kaleidoscope, just cut, stick and twist!

Thursday 27th August, 10am-1pm - Maritime Museum

Inspired by the Pirates and Privateers exhibition, create your own telescope!

Wednesday 2nd September, 10am-1pm - Wilberforce House Museum

Create your own jewellery inspired by West African culture - suitable for girls and boys!

This family friendly exhibition explores our fascination with pirates and their roots in our past. See Johnny Depp's costume from The Pirates of the Caribbean film, Aardman animation figures and genuine weapons of the time. Take your chances and see if you can guess our piratey smells

Find out about Hull and the North Sea's encounters with piracy including a gruesome end for the pirate Lancelot Greenwell!

Look at the history and myths behind one of history's most controversial figures - the Pirate!

Summer at the Ferens Art Gallery

Our galleries are open through the school holidays until 31 August before closing for a major refit in the lead up to City of Culture 2017.

The holidays will be a chance to see works from the permanent collection before they go into a secure store. Free family activity boxes are available to investigate key artwork on display. Also don’t miss the children’s gallery aimed at 6-10 year olds.

When we re-open early in 2017, new lighting, humidity and temperature control systems will allow the gallery to secure the long-term preservation of our important collections and to stage the very best in national and international exhibitions.

The £4.5m renovation of the Ferens is being funded by Hull City Council, HM Treasury and Arts Council England.

Our family friendly temporary exhibitions will transfer to the Hull Maritime Museum. Click here for more information.

Time Troopers: Mirror Image

Streetlife Museum is August's venue for the popular Time Troopers club

Saturday 8 August 2015, 11am - 1pm

BIg Bus Day 2015

Saturday 19 September 10.00 am - 4.00 pm

This family fun day has become one of the most popular dates in our museum calendar and for good reason! Step on board a wide selection of modern and heritage buses. Listen to the EYMS brass band.

Free open top bus tours, face painting, children's activities and much more.
