Gas safety: recent prosecutions

Landlord sentenced after failing to carry out gas safety checks.

A landlord has been sentenced after failing to ensure gas safety checks were carried out at a rented property for 8 years. The property was occupied by a tenant and her 5 children.

HSE's investigation found that gas safety checks had not been carried out at the property for 8 years and the landlord was unable to provide gas safety records covering that period. The failure to carry out checks exposed tenants to the risk of serious harm, including carbon monoxide poisoning.
