Colder weather can increase the risk of slips, trips and falls in the workplace.
Slips and trips cause over a third of all major injuries and can also lead to other types of accidents, such as falls from height or into machinery.
At this time of year surfaces can become unsafe and slip and trip accidents may become more likely.
Our guidance helps you to understand what causes slips and trips and how to prevent them.
Our slips and trips webpages also provide plenty of further information and resources, including advice on what to do next if there has been a slip or trip accident at work.
A man suffered multiple serious injuries after being attacked by cows while walking his dog on a public footpath.
The member of the public was walking his dog when he was suddenly attacked by a herd of cattle with calves.
The cattle trampled and butted him, with the attack only ending when the herd chased after his dog. He spent 5 days in hospital from the injuries he sustained.
HSE's investigation found that cattle with young calves were being kept in a field with a public right of way across it, posing a significant risk to walkers. The farmer was fined £5,260, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £4,650 and a court surcharge of £2,000.
