Future Access to extranet services including the RIDDOR database

FOR ACTION

HSE has reviewed access controls to the RIDDOR database and identified a significant number of inactive accounts.

Following discussion at the Health and Safety Executive/Local Authority Enforcement Liaison Committee (HELA)  and Practitioner’s Forum meetings, a decision has been made to delete any extranet accounts which have been inactive for 6 months or longer on a rolling cycle. This includes, RIDDOR, HELex and Asbestos extranet systems.

Further work is being undertaken to review overarching data control and management processes and we will share further details with LAs as they emerge.

Recording Ministry of Justice visits to Funeral Directors on LAE1 data return

FOR ACTION

We are aware that many LAs have been asked to conduct visits to Funeral Director’s premises by the Ministry of Justice.

Whilst this nationwide project is not one that HSE have commissioned, it is recognised that reviewing management of the Control of Substances Harmful to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 may form a key part of the visits you undertake.

For this reason, the activity can be captured and included in your LAE1 return in for the operational work year 2024 to 2025.

These visits should be recorded within the ‘non-inspection interventions’ category as ‘other visits/face to face contacts using national intelligence’ in accordance with the guidance provided in Annex E of LAC 67/2 (rev 13).
