Wider responsibilities for APs and PAPs

As well as registering ‘in-scope’ high-rise residential buildings with BSR, ‘Accountable Persons’ (APs) and the ‘Principal Accountable Person’ (PAP) need to assess and manage the safety risks in their high-rise buildings.

These responsibilities include preparing a safety case report and engaging with their residents.

Find out more about the roles of APs and the PAP and their legal duties.

Becoming a registered building inspector or approver

Last month, we informed you that the registration service for building control inspectors and approvers had opened.

From April 2024 registration will become mandatory for anyone undertaking any type of building control work in England.

You can hear more about this from Sandra Ashcroft, Competence workstream lead for the Building Safety programme on our website.

You can also access our recent webinar on the process for becoming a registered building control approver (via YouTube).
