In advance of its adoption, HSE has published new guidance on meeting aspects of the residues data requirements including the comparability of residue trials and extrapolation of residue data on products from plant and animal origin.
The new guidance will be applicable to pesticide active substance approvals, plant protection product authorisations and MRL setting in GB from 1 January 2024.
The new GB Extrapolation Guidance replaces the previous guidance under SANCO 7525/VI/95 rev. 10.3 (.pdf).
Before the adoption of the GB Extrapolation Guidance, HSE sought the views of representative stakeholders through an informal consultation. Following this exercise, HSE concluded that it is appropriate to adopt the GB Extrapolation Guidance with a small number of minor modifications, for example, editorial corrections or examples for illustration, which aid clarity.

The GB Extrapolation Guidance is only applicable to GB assessments; the SANTE/2019/12752 guidelines are applicable to assessments in Northern Ireland.
