New GB active substance non-approval decisions

Biocidal products must be phased off the GB market

Following evaluation/withdrawal of support under the GB BPR, a decision has been taken not to approve the following active substances in GB:

  • (benzyloxy)methanol (CAS 14548-60-8 EC 238-588-8) in product type 13

  • 2,2-dibromo-2-cyanoacetamide (DBNPA) (CAS 10222-01-2 EC 233-539-7) in product type 13

  • 2-hydroxy-α,α,4-trimethylcyclohexanemethanol (CAS 42822-86-6 EC 255-953-7) in product type 19

  • Amines, C10-16-alkyldimethyl, N-oxides (CAS 70592-80-2 EC 274-687-2) in product type 04

  • Bronopol (CAS 52-51-7 EC 200-143-0) in product type 09

  • Capsicum annuum, ext. (Extractives and their physically modified derivatives such as tinctures, concretes, absolutes, essential oils, oleoresins, terpenes, terpene-free fractions, distillates, residues, etc., obtained from Capsicum annuum, Solanaceae) (CAS 84625-29-6 EC 283-403-6) in product type 19

  • Capsicum oleoresin (Extractives and their physically modified derivatives. It is a product which may contain resin acids and their esters, terpenes, and oxidation or polymerisation products of these terpenes.) (Capsicum frutescens, Solanaceae) (CAS 8023-77-6 EC n/a) in product type 19

  • Carbon dioxide (CAS 124-38-9 EC 204-696-9) in product type 19

  • Dialuminium chloride pentahydroxide (CAS 12042-91-0 EC 234-933-1) in product type 02

  • Eucalyptus citriodora oil and citronellal, hydrated, cyclized (CAS n/a EC n/a) in product type 19

  • Malt, ext. (Extractives and their physically modified derivatives such as tinctures, concretes, absolutes, essential oils, oleoresins, terpenes, terpene-free fractions, distillates, residues, etc., obtained from Hordeum, Gramineae) (CAS 8002-48-0 EC 232-310-9) in product type 19

  • Metam-sodium (CAS 137-42-8 EC 205-293-0) in product types 09 and 11

  • Peroxyoctanoic acid (CAS 33734-57-5 EC n/a) in product types 02, 03 and 04

  • Reaction mass of (6E)-N-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-2-methylphenyl)-8-methylnon-6-enamide and N-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-2-methylphenyl)-8-methylnonanamide (CAS n/a EC n/a) in product type 19

  • Reaction mass of titanium dioxide and silver chloride (CAS n/a EC n/a) in product types 01, 02, 06, 07 and 09

  • Reaction products of aluminium trihydroxide and hydrochloric acid and aluminium and water (CAS n/a EC n/a) in product type 02

  • Silver, as a nanomaterial (CAS 7440-22-4 EC 231-131-3) in product types 02, 04 and 09

  • Sodium N-(hydroxymethyl)glycinate (CAS 70161-44-3 EC 274-357-8) in product type 06

  • Thiram (CAS 137-26-8 EC 205-286-2) in product type 09

Biocidal products containing this active substance in the relevant product types can no longer be:

  • supplied in GB after 15 August 2024; or

  • used in GB after 15 February 2025

You must manage your stocks of the affected products to ensure they are removed from the GB supply chain by 15 August 2024.

New treated articles containing this active substance in the relevant product types cannot enter the supply chain or be imported into GB after 11 February 2024. Treated articles that have entered GB supply chains before this date can continue to be supplied and used.

Any affected GB product approvals under the Control of Pesticides Regulations (COPR) will be revoked in line with the above dates.
