ECHA public consultation: call for comments

The GB MCL process includes the consideration of information gathered from public consultations, conducted by HSE or international bodies such as the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). 

 

ECHA has announced a public consultation on the following proposals for harmonised classification and labelling (CLH):

  • Calcium metaborate (Ca(BO2)2) and calcium tetraborate (CaB4O7), amorphous reaction products of boric acid with lime (EC: -; CAS:-). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Calcium tetraborate (EC: 234-511-7; CAS: 12007-56-6). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Diammonium decaborate (EC: 234-521-1; CAS: 12007-89-5). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Dipotassium octaborate (EC: -; CAS: 12008-39-8). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Dipotassium tetraborate (EC: 215-575-5; CAS: 1332-77-0). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Magnesium metaborate (EC: 237-235-5; CAS: 13703-82-7). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Pentaboron sodium octaoxide (EC: 234-522-7; CAS: 12007-92-0). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Potassium metaborate (EC: 237-262-2; CAS: 13709-94-9). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Potassium pentaborate (EC: 234-371-7; CAS: 11128-29-3). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

  • Sodium metaborate, anhydrous [1]; boric acid (HBO2), sodium salt, tetrahydrate [2]; and any other hydrated form (EC: 231-891-6 [1]; - [2]; CAS: 7775-19-1 [1]; 10555-76-7 [2]). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard class open for commenting.

UK-based businesses with an interest in the proposal are strongly encouraged to share any relevant information. 

 

Scientific and technical information should be submitted directly to ECHA using their commenting webform by 5 May 2023. Comments will be published on ECHA's website.


ECHA public consultation: call for comments

Deadline: 12 May 2023

ECHA has announced a public consultation on the following proposals for CLH:

  • 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (EC: 212-782-2; CAS: 868-77-9). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard classes open for commenting.

  • Methacrylic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol (EC: 248-666-3; CAS: 27813-02-1). Chemical registered under REACH. Human health hazard classes open for commenting.

  • Pyriproxyfen (ISO) (EC: 429-800-1; CAS: 95737-68-1). Pesticide active substance. All hazard classes open for commenting.

Under the GB CLP Regulation, HSE will consider all published opinions of the Committee of Risk Assessment of ECHA (RAC) before publishing its own Agency Technical Reports and Agency Opinions, so any information you provide will be important in any final GB MCL decision.
