HSE spot checks – business support on work-related stress

Questions on work-related stress form part of HSE’s COVID spot check programme as we support businesses to work safely.

The spot check programme ensures business are working safely and continuing to reduce the risk posed by COVID-19 transmission in the workplace.

The questions tie in with the recently launched Working Minds campaign that brings together a range of tools and support to help businesses and workers understand the best ways to prevent work-related stress and encourage good mental health

Businesses and organisations can support our campaign and become Working Minds Champions.

During the spot checks, HSE provides advice and guidance to manage risk and protect workers, customers and visitors. By calling and speaking directly to employers, HSE can check the measures they've put in place are in line with UK and devolved government guidance.

Further information on the spot check programme is available.

Our step-by-step guide to manual handling at work should help you to minimise these risks.

We also have advice for users and suppliers of agency/temporary workers, as many of these are specifically employed for the festive period.

Exemption: pressure systems forming an enclosure for high-voltage equipment

HSE has granted a legal exemption that will enable the use of more environmentally friendly gases in the electricity distribution network.

The exemption is applicable to any pressure system containing an insulating and interrupting gas and forming an integral part of high-voltage electrical apparatus.

Any new high-voltage electrical equipment using alternative gasses must still be designed, manufactured and tested to appropriate standards before being placed on the market.
