Spot checks are helping businesses reduce the spread of COVID-19

HSE is continuing to support businesses by carrying out spot checks and inspections to ensure they are working safely and continuing to reduce the risk posed by COVID-19 transmission.

This includes businesses regulated by local authorities.

 

During the spot checks, HSE provides advice and guidance to manage risk and protect workers, customers and visitors but where some businesses are not managing this, we will take immediate action.

 

Our latest advice on keeping workplaces safe covers the measures that may be required to protect workers, customers and others from coronavirus.

 

You must still control the risks and review and update your risk assessment. The following workplace controls remain unchanged:

Director receives suspended jail sentence following fatal incident

The managing director of a scaffolding company has been fined after an employee died when he was struck from behind by a forklift truck.

The company director was sentenced to 10 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay a £7,000 fine and £45,000 costs.
