School census
This October, schools across Hounslow will be completing the annual School Census and are being asked to identify Previously Looked After Children (PLAC) and those living in Kinship Care arrangements. The deadline to update this information is Wednesday, 28 October 2026. If this applies to your child, please inform their school before the deadline.
PLAC is a child who was previously in the care of a local authority and left care through:
- An Adoption Order
- Special Guardianship Order (SGO)
- Child Arrangements Order (CAO)
- Adoption from state care outside England or Wales
Kinship Care is when a child is raised by a relative, family friend, or another person with whom they have an existing close relationship because their parents are unable to care for them. These can be a formal/legal arrangement or informal where a child lives with family/friends without local authority involvement.
Collecting this information will help schools and support services better understand children's circumstances and ensure they receive the support they require.
