A love of reading starts from day one
From this autumn, every baby born in Hounslow will receive a My First Library Card to help them begin their reading journey.
As part of our commitment to giving every child the best possible start in life, new parents can collect their baby's card when they register their birth, alongside a Bookstart pack. The card opens the door to free books, stories, activities and support for the whole family.

Protect your parcels from theft
With more people shopping online, parcel deliveries have become part of everyday life. Unfortunately, unattended packages can be an easy target for thieves.
Police in Hounslow are reminding residents to take a few simple steps to help keep deliveries safe.
Here are some practical ways to reduce the risk of parcel theft:
- Avoid leaving parcels in open view on doorsteps, porches or in communal entrances.
- Use parcel lockers or collection points where available, especially for high-value items.
- Arrange deliveries for when someone is home, or redirect parcels to a trusted neighbour, friend or alternative address.
- Track your deliveries and enable notifications so you can collect parcels promptly after they arrive.
- Provide clear delivery instructions and ask that parcels are not left outside your property.
- Consider installing a secure, lockable parcel box fixed to your property.
- Keep communal entrances secure by ensuring doors close and lock properly, and never allow unknown individuals to follow you into shared areas.
If you believe a parcel has been stolen, report it to the delivery company and contact the police on 101 if a crime has occurred.
Breaking the Stigma of addiction
Breaking the Stigma is a podcast featuring real-life stories, expert advice and honest conversations about substance use, mental health, recovery and rebuilding lives.
There’s no single story of addiction – and sometimes hearing someone else talk openly about their experiences can be the first step towards asking for help.
The podcast is for both residents who want support and professionals who work with residents facing addiction.
