Chiswick House and Gardens opens its Learning Hub
The Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Shantanu Rajawat, officially opened the new Learning Hub at Chiswick House and Gardens.
The Hub will enable the Chiswick House and Gardens Trust to expand its work with schools and community groups across Hounslow and neighbouring boroughs, welcoming more than 7,000 people every year. Along with the new Artist Studios, the Council contributed more than £1 million towards the construction of the Hub and Artists’ Studios through the Council’s Thriving Communities Fund.
Last chance to discover Open House
This year, Hounslow is proud to have four neighbourhoods featured in Open House.
Take a look and discover places you may not have known existed near you. Book your free visit:
Open House is a free, London-wide festival that celebrates the city’s buildings and stories.
Every year, locations across 33 London boroughs open their doors to the public to explore places and spaces that are not usually accessible.
Nominate your community star
Do you know someone that goes above and beyond for their local community? The Council's annual One Hounslow Community Stars awards are now open for nominations.
They celebrate people, groups, organisations and businesses from across the borough. There are no set categories for nominations. However, there is a range of themes to help guide your nomination.
The most important thing is the positive impact people or groups have had on Hounslow and its communities.
Experience a free performance inspired by African dance and stories of war at Bell Square, Hounslow High Street, on Saturday, 19 September.
Watermans presents Echoes of Dust, performed by ACE Music and Dance. This remarkable show features raw and innovative choreography that transforms emotion into movement.
Performances last one hour and take place at 3.30pm and 7.30pm. No booking is required.

Join us to kick off Black History Month
The Council is hosting a free event at Hounslow House on Thursday, 1 October to celebrate Black History Month. It’s a great chance to come together and recognise the fantastic contributions and achievements of Black communities across our borough.
Guest speaker for the event is Rodgers Orero from the Riana Development Network, a local charity that has been supporting individuals and families for more than two decades.
Rodgers will share inspiring stories about how community action is transforming lives in Hounslow. Join us to celebrate our shared history and help build a stronger, more inclusive future for all.
Welcome to our new DFN Project SEARCH Interns
Supported Internships provide invaluable opportunities for young people with learning disabilities and autistic young people to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to move into paid employment.
The Council, as one of the host organisations, also benefits from fresh perspectives, enthusiastic colleagues and the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to inclusion, opportunity and community impact.
New interns have now started their programme and are looking forward to developing their employability skills throughout the academic year. Work rotations will begin shortly for Term 1, and we are currently seeking local businesses interested in hosting an intern for Terms 2 (January to March) and 3 (April to June).
If you’re a local business and would like to host an intern during these times, please contact Nicky.Bitar@hounslow.gov.uk to find out more.
Did you know you can get sexual health support and free contraception at local pharmacies? There's a range of confidential, accessible services available, including:

Emergency hormonal contraception, available from participating pharmacies for eligible residents.
-
The contraceptive pill, available without a prescription through participating pharmacies for people who need to start the pill for the first time, restart after a break, or obtain an ongoing supply.
-
Free self-sampling sexual health testing kits, which can be ordered discreetly for testing at home.
Two short films featuring young people visiting a local pharmacy challenge perceptions of what pharmacies offer and demonstrate how easy, convenient and confidential it can be for young people to access these services.
