Nominate your community star
 Do you know someone that goes above and beyond for their local community? The Council's annual One Hounslow Community Stars awards are now open for nominations.
They celebrate people, groups, organisations and businesses from across the borough. There are no set categories for nominations. However, there is a range of themes to help guide your nomination.
The most important thing is the positive impact people or groups have had on Hounslow and its communities.
Mulberry Centre celebrates anniversary
This week the Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Tom Bruce, joined fellow Councillors to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Mulberry Centre.
Based in the grounds of West Middlesex Hospital in Isleworth, it provides free support to adults affected by cancer, including people with a diagnosis, carers, family members and people who are bereaved.
The Council recently contributed £45,113 through its Thriving Communities Fund to help refurbish the centre.

Health Action Day at Butts Farm
Healthy Hounslow is hosting a Health Action Day at Butts Farm, Hanworth (TW13 5LZ) from 11.30am to 3pm on Thursday, 17 September.
Pop down on the day for community stalls, health and wellbeing checks and advice, activities and refreshments.

You can get advice and support on healthy eating, quitting smoking and exercise programmes.

 Think Well, a new space designed to support young people across Hounslow, opens its doors for the first time today (Friday, 11 September).
Think Well is based at Beavers Children’s Centre, TW4 7NW, and will be open:
- Mondays: 4pm to 8pm
- Wednesdays: 4pm to 8pm
- Fridays: 3pm to 9pm
Young people will be able to access wellbeing support and connect with others in a safe, welcoming and non-clinical space that promotes positive mental health and builds confidence.
Carer cafés this September
 Take part in activities and share experiences with other unpaid carers, all while enjoying complimentary refreshments, at one of the upcoming carer cafés:

Saturday, 12 September, 11am to 1pm: The Chiswick Cinema, 94-96 Chiswick High Road, W4 1SH - with the Community Provisions team, who provide support for adults in Hounslow living with a learning disability or autism - free ice cream, drink, or slice of cake included

Wednesday, 16 September, 2pm to 4pm: Bristol Court, United Drive, Feltham, TW14 9AG - with special guests from the Green Doctors Service, who help people save money on energy bills
The Council is offering a 20-week training programme for residents who want to become qualified interpreters and gain the experience needed to work in the public sector. The course starts on Thursday, 8 October.
It's free for eligible residents aged 19 and over who are not in education, employment or training and receiving universal credit or job seekers’ allowance.
To enrol, you must already hold an English Level 2 qualification or higher and pass language assessments with both Learn Hounslow and LanguageLine in September.
 If you have a child in school they will be offered a free NHS flu vaccination. Most children receive a quick nasal spray vaccine.
A gelatine-free injectable vaccine is also available for children who cannot have the nasal spray, or where parents choose this option.
If you are a parent or carer for a child in school, you will shortly receive an email asking for consent.
Please complete your consent form to avoid delaying your child's vaccination. If you have any questions, please contact the Vaccination UK team in Hounslow.
Join us to kick off Black History Month
 The Council is hosting a free event at Hounslow House on Thursday, 1 October to celebrate Black History Month. It’s a great chance to come together and recognise the fantastic contributions and achievements of Black communities across our borough.
Guest speaker for the event is Rodgers Orero from the Riana Development Network, a local charity that has been supporting individuals and families for more than two decades.
Rodgers will share inspiring stories about how community action is transforming lives in Hounslow. Join us to celebrate our shared history and help build a stronger, more inclusive future for all.
SEND advice in Bedfont
 Find the right support for your child or young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Come in person to one of the monthly SEND drop-in sessions, where you can speak to a professional face-to-face for advice and support.
The next session takes place at Bedfont Community Centre, Bedfont Lane, TW14 9NB on Monday, 14 September from 10am to 12pm.
Event celebrating addiction recovery
Addiction Recovery Community (ARC) Hounslow will be hosting a Recovery Open Day from 12pm to 4pm on Friday, 18 September. It promises to be an inspiring afternoon focused on hope, community and recovery.
This year's theme is the power of heart, brain and courage through creative activities, live performances and the opportunity to connect with local community groups.
