 8 September 2026

It's World Suicide Prevention Day on Thursday, 10 September. It’s an opportunity to remind people of services that are there to help.
Here are three great resources that are available to anyone:
-
The Stay Alive app can be used by those with suicidal thoughts or in crisis. It also has advice for anyone who is concerned about a loved one. The app comes in 22 languages and is safe for young people to use. Download the app or view the web version here.
- Allkind runs a vital suicide bereavement support service for residents of North West London, including Hounslow. It offers emotional support and practical help to adults and young people who have been bereaved or affected by suicide. Young people's support can be found here and support for adults is here.
-
If you’d like suicide awareness training then the free, online sessions from the Zero Suicide Alliance are a good place to start. Each session lasts around an hour. Sign up here.
This autumn, if you have a child in school they will be offered a free NHS flu vaccination, which helps protect your child from getting seriously unwell.
Most children receive a quick nasal spray vaccine. A gelatine-free injectable vaccine is also available for children who cannot have the nasal spray, or where parents choose this option.
If you are a parent or carer for a child in school, you will shortly receive an email asking for consent.
Please complete your consent form as soon as possible to avoid delaying your child's vaccination. If you have any questions, please contact the Vaccination UK team in Hounslow.
